This is definitely the place to go if you are looking for unique and different and also at a good price this has always been my store since I started the hobby back when the store was in Greenbelt MD and to the negative post whenever I go here if there is a tank with a problem the tank is usually under treatment and the fish are not for sale this is my number one spot plus the prices can't be beat sometimes I go In just to look around because you never know what they may have even if you don't go to shop at least go check them out and see for yourself it's an awesome place
This place is a "puppy mill for fish"! I have always supported small businesses, but rarely am I compelled to write a review. I am an avid fish lover/keeper but his is one shop where I will never spend money. I drove 30 miles to see this place. The fish are beautiful, but there were often no names or labels - other than price. The staff was not only unhelpful, but quite rude. While I didn't see any birds mentioned in other reviews, the conditions for fish are deplorable, and there were a number of fish with bites and illness. From a safety perspective, I had to watch my step so I didn't trip over random stuff in the tightly cramped aisles. If I could give a lower rating, I would. The owner seems completely concerned with making money rather than achieving a good reputation or establishing customer loyalty. He says to shop somewhere else if you don't like his business practices. In keeping with his advice, I recommend Congressional Aquarium or Eden - places where they actually value customers!
This place is great if you are an experienced aquarist. They have fish you won't find at the mega mart fish stores. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. I have been getting fish from them for years and have never had a problem. Some of the comments saying that they don't care about the fish because of how some of the tanks look are completely wrong. This is what a REAL fish store looks like! Bottom line if you want a fish you can't find anywhere else they probably have it and you won't be disappointed.
If you are a experienced and knowledgeable aquarists seeking rare and or unique fish this is definitely the place to visit!

Been shopping at Beltway since they moved to Waldorf. They have always had the best selection in fish. You can't get what they have at Petco, PetSmart, and or Walmart. They are extremely knowledgeable about the fish I learn something new everyday from Richard and Robin. Always do your own research before you by any fish but if you have any questions they will always have the answer.
Beltway Aquarium is by far the best fish store I have ever been to. Beltway Aquarium is my go to spot for rare/unique fish, advice and supplies! Not only do they have a fantastic selection of rare fish and supplies but their prices are very reasonable! The owner Richard is very knowledgeable as is his wife Robin and the younger gentleman working there.
