I haven't been there in years but the ads for the new tipped steaks drew me and my husband in for a nice lunch. I had the butter and herb topper on a medium well steak, loaded garlic mashed taters, broccoli, and some onion strings. The steak was absolutely delicious. Some of the butter went to the broccoli making it better than my husband's (He really didn't like his broccoli) and seeing that onions are so cheap, I would have liked a lot MORE of those! We added salads which were so so. Lots of the hard part of the romaine leaves and I actually had part of the sour core of the iceberg lettuce. All in all a very GREAT meal. Our waitress got a smaller tip than we usually give our servers because she was not attentive to us because a friend was seated in her section. She even SAT IN THE BOOTH with him. Others served our food. But, I won't hold it against the place. I really enjoyed my meal!
So Santa Mrs and two elves did a showing at Waldorf Applebee's. Not only did she try to pay us less than half of what we agreed to when we stood our ground she paid us what was owed but paid it in 1s. Needless to say we will not be going back we had done 3 shows for them this year and never had a complaint never a pay issue until now. The manager at Applebee's in Waldorf ruined having the real Santa next year so when you don't see him that is why
Let me first say that I am not a complainer. I know that reviews are subjective and some people write them because their expectations were too high or that they are just jerks. Now let's get into this one. When we arrived the wait for our server was so long that we had to summon the manager to see if someone would be coming over. OK...apology made, let''s get over it. Then the appetizer took a very long time to come out and when it did it was lukewarm at best. We didn't send it back, just took a couple bites and got over it. Then when the food came the fries couldn't even be called lukewarm. They may have stayed under the heat lamps until the count of 30. Asked for new fries, got em. I don't think they actually FRY them because they were not hot but at least they were warm this time. Then the cherry on top was when my girlfriend looked down and noticed a bug in her drink. No, not a fly like the 2 we had killed on the window we sat next to, but more like a gnat-like creature. Just hanging onto the inside of the glass, as if having seen the latest Marvel movie featuring a gangly bug-like kid. That was definitely the last straw. The server, bless her heart, was apologetic and took off the drink and we still felt compelled to give her a little tip. We also noticed that another table had some issue they needed the manager for, but hey, that's not our business. Overall I think there is poor management or at the very least, poor kitchen staff. But I'll end on a good note, my bourbon chicken and shrimp was pretty good. And if I swallowed a bug in my drink, at least it had the decency to go without any fanfare.
I observed the manager taking orders from several different tables and helping out the waitresses. She came around 3 times while we were there asking how things were and I spoke to her on the last time. It upset me when I heard another waitress telling customers that she was a new manager and was messing up. She was reallying doing all she could with as busy as they were and as many issues as there were. I hope the staff can start working together.
There was a whole lot of complaining going on in there because of how slow the service was and problems with the waiters and their attitudes. The manager wasn't very helpful as he was sitting at a table socializing so you would think a leader would help the team but there's a difference between a leader and Lester. He must have just like the title because he did not help the angry customers. His Focus was sitting around talking to ladies
Got there around 6:30 on a Saturday night. They had empty tables. Our waitress was Charnise T. She took our drinks and then came back we ordered the 2 for $25 which included an appetizer of Spinach dip and another person did the dry rub ribs. 15 minutes goes by and 2 other tables have gotten the same appetizer, but we still have not. Charnise comes back after 25 minutes and is just now realizing they never brought it. She says our food is about to come up so she will bring them together. She tells me they have to remake the baked potato and it’s going to take 20 minutes for it to cook. I just switched to mashed potatoes. A few minutes goes by and our dip comes. After we finish our dip then the food comes. The burger was great. The ribs were not dry rub they had a spicy Texas sauce on them. I did not get my food. I patiently waited 10 minutes with still no food. Then the manager comes by and I had to explain to her the issues. She said dry rub ribs was no longer part of the menu; however, it was on the menu and Charnise said she was able to ring it in. And somehow instead of telling her or us they didn’t offer it anymore the cooks just put spicy Texas on them. He ordered something different because he could not eat the spice. The manager goes back and reorders my food. It comes out and my steak was purple throughout the entire thing. I asked for medium rare. I had to have them take it back to cook it more. Then finally it comes and was good.
