Of all the dumps I've frequented, this landfill is the best. I am always greeted by friendly staff willing to assist. If I happen to arrive after closing hours...I'm certain it's because I've underestimated the time needed to get there on time.
They didn't take my bin! I will be calling them in the morning on a Saturday
Today (14 Oct 2016) was the 2nd time I've used the Charles County (CC) Landfill located on Billingsley Road since I became a CC resident in 2007. First occasion (June/July 2016?) a gentleman met me when/as I pulled up to the discharge point and advised-and-removed a television for recycling, in/out in under 2-3 minutes. However, today (14 Oct 2016), I strongly believe the attendant person went out of his way "not" to advise or assist. He had just assisted the vehicle that was there when I arrived that was towing a trailer full if items. I'm primarily irritated/offended to correspond via this review based on what I suspect (i hope I'm wrong) he made a point of excluding me, to assist anyone who didn't look like me. I was there to recycle 2 lead-acid batteries and 3 18-volt Li-ion batteries (red in color). Essentially, i had to exit my vehicle and wonder around until I located a a pallet with a few other assorted batteries located on it. I then unloaded the 5 batteries took them to the pallet (I located on my own). Other residents pulled in and then the landfill attendant exited the booth and engaged them and presumably provided them the standard of assistance. The county landfill is a great service, and from my limited experience well run/maintained. But, I would do all a dis-service if I failed to document-n-voice my concern with my experience today!
Was knocked out sleep so it was free for me. HA!
Closing times during the week needs to be changed to later due to those that work and have to rush to get off to get home and then get there by 4pm...who can manage that living here with the horrible traffic everyday? Sundays are closed so that makes Saturdays an ONLY option to go and if you're not available for that day tgen you have a trash dilemma...pile up until the weekend...It's not very convienent for tax payers to have to be concerned about this type of situation every week...
