Called to schedule an appointment to install a new stereo in a 2001 BMW X5. I described the vehicle and the radio to the gentleman on the phone and was told to come in at 1000am(today). I took the day off from work and arrived at 0950 with radio in hand. At 1005 when the techs arrived I was told that they could not work on because of vehicle type 4.4 engine... ?????. I tried to explain that the radio was BMW factory compliant and did not require any additional wiring (plug and play) and was still told to return on Saturday. I took to another shop, Discount Sounds, in Oxon Hill and they installed the system in about 30 minutes. I got there at 10:55(cause of the long drive from Waldorf) and was out by 11:30. If not for them Pro Audio would have wasted my day off. "time is money"
A very good experience, the staff were very polite and nice. They had the lowest price out there, and their installation was very good job.
They get one star because you cant give negative stars. I have never heard of a shop they wont give you some sort of prices over the phone. Who wants to make a long drive just to find out they dont have what you want. Then they hang up when you say something you dont like.
If I could give less than 1 star I would. Pro Audio installed a receiver and four speakers. For the price I paid I later found out that I could have gotten a top of the line system. Then, in less than 6 months, 3 speakers stopped working. I went back to Pro Audio expecting them to fix their crappy work without charge, but they charged a lot. They said the whole system needed to be re-wired - after 6 months!!! I had the work done and the same thing happened within a matter of months. This time a friend and I took the radio and speakers out. The wiring we saw was extremely unprofessional, lazy work with loose wires hanging everywhere. On top of that it looked like the speakers Pro Audio installed were used, and they told me they were new. In addition the manager/owner was really rude to me. In my opinion he has issues when dealing with women.
I went to this place on the recommendation of a friend. I had a 20 inch lightbar that came with the brackets and the wiring harness and the rocker switch. The gentleman behind the counter quoted me a price of $189. I told him that I would get back to them within the next couple of weeks. When I arrived three weeks later the price went up to $220 and I was given a horrible explanation about it being a three hour install. This was a plug-and-play install. There was no fabrication involved. This guy tried to take me for a ride because he didn't have any business going on that day. I would never recommend this place to anybody. I went to another shop in Waldorf and got a price quote of half the price for the install at Pro Audio.
